Deep-brown Dart

A few interesting bits today on a typical early October day at the farmlands:

Bird Migrants: 3 Wigeon, 1 1st winter Caspian Gull, 1 Whinchat, 1 Stonechat, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 10 Meadow Pipit,  2 House Martin, 1 Sedge and 1 Reed Warbler, 5 Chiffchaff,  3 Goldcrest, 2 Siskin, 2 Chaffinch, 5 Reed Bunting

Moth trap: 1 Deep-brown Dart, 1 Black Rustic, 1 Beaded Chestnut, 3 Barred Sallow, 4 Lunar Underwing, 2 Brindled Green, 1 Large Yellow Underwing,  1 Red-green Carpet, 1 Double-striped Pug.

Deep-brown Dart- the 4th record for Beddington
Deep-brown Dart (right) and Black Rustic (left)
Beaded Chestnut (top) and Lunar Underwing (below)
 Whinchat
 3 Wigeon on North Lake
 First-winter Caspian Gull
Ivy Bee- lots on Mile Road Bridge at the moment
Good to see a group visiting the farmlands this weekend. Ever since Viridor brought their foot down on access there have been very few visitors and following a cull on the bird group there are now plans to enforce tighter access conditions. Real oppressive stuff for a company who are supposed to be creating a public community nature reserve.

It was a London RSPB visit so was only publicised within the RSPB
