Spent a great couple of days around Kresnar herping with Dylan and Anton. The weather wasn't great so it was a bit slow going herp wise but we still managed to find some interesting bits and bobs.
Full herping trip list included Kotchy's-complex Gecko, Agile Frog, Greek Stream Frog, Balkan Green Lizard, Green Lizard, Leopard Snake, Four-lined Snake, Dice Snake, Caspian Whip Snake, Spur-thighed Tortoise, Caspian Turtle, European Pond Turtle, Red eared and yellow-bellied Sliders, Common Toad, Marsh Frog and around Kamen Bryag I also has Glass Lizard, Wall Lizard and Eastern Tree Frog. So 18 species not too bad.
Greek Stream Frog- a lifer
Agile Frog
Yellow-bellied Slider - one of many 'turtles' at Baba Vanga's pond, mainly the naturalised and invasive Sliders but also native species
Red-eared Slider
European Pond Turtle
Caspian Turtle
A dinky Spur-thighed Tortoise
Balkan Green Lizard
Dice Snake
White Stork
Had the moth trap out (will do a separate post on the moths). These Peacock Moths were stunning and a long wished for lifer
Kresna Gorge
We dropped Anton off at his flat in Sofia and had a look at his 4 snake species and 10 tarantulas, Reticulated Python above and Pink Bird-eating Tarantula below
