People often put posts up on social media depicting a stunning looking micro moth, declaring that those who don't look at micros are missing out in life. This is NOT one of those posts. However it's a gift if you can find interest in them- about 1500 species to 'collect' in the UK providing endless opportunities to disappear down the rabbit hole in your back garden (ultra low carbon) so at least its better than looking at stuff in shops. The bonus is some of them are actually most beautiful and after a while all of them start becoming interesting and fascinating.
So here's a little work in progress, a photo note on the micro moths seen this July so I can refer to it next July instead of going through the same pain every July of re-learning them :-). This doesn't include all the ones I've already memorised, just the ones that I'm still trying to get to stick. Identifications provisional (best guesses) and will try and work this into something more accurate with feedback.

This seemingly 'all red' Knot-horn is presumably Beautiful Knot-horn Rdodophaea formosa or maybe Moitrelia obductella ? Update 270722- yes it is the rather scarce Moitrelia obductella - see here

Acorn Piercer, Pammene fasciana - a few distinctive features showing including the two spots near the dorsum juxtaposed to traverse lines and dashes towards the ternum. Also the palps are very short and typically a large area of unbroken pale along the dorsum.

Probably a Willow Ermine- they occur regularly in the county and the dark area framed by pale margins on the sparsely spotted forewing are good indicative features
