Another Wild Goose Chase

With grey geese invading North London today it looked like my best chance ever to see Whitefront at Beddington.... but my run of bad goose luck continues. In the last few weeks I have missed 6 Whitefronts and 9 Bean Geese at Beddington and 50,000 Red-breasted Geese in Bulgaria.
So our elite team of goose hunters (Johnny, Dodge, Frankie and me) on a dawn to dusk vigil failed to track down any geese. In fact our 'super team' not only failed to find any grey geese but at one point we all had to run off to see the bird of the day, a Firecrest (pic 1) found by Terry's wife!
Not a bad day overall- 2 Blackwits, 11 Golden Plover (landed on the mound), 1 adult Mediterranean Gull, 2nd win Caspo (pic 2), adult Yellow-legged Gull (pic 3), 110 Shoveler, 3 Pochard, 1 Green Sandpiper, 5 Yellowhammer, 100+ Linnet, 10 Skylark, 40+ Stock Dove (on the move today) and also Keith found a Woodcock.
