Mad moth week

This heat wave has been producing a lot of moth activity with up to 127 species of nearly 500 individuals a night in the garden moth traps. The garden moth list is now on 280 species. Added nearly 70 species in the last few days.

Been a few migrants with up to 5 Dark Sword Grass a night and also Rusty-dot Pearl (2-3 a night), Rush Veneer (only the odd one), Diamond-back moth (3-4 a night), Silver-Y (up to 5-6 a night) and Four-spotted Footman (singles) in addition to Blair's Mocha, Portland Ribbon Wave, Vagrant Piercers (up to 8 a night) and Radford's Flame Shoulder, White-point and Turnip which are presumably local.

Here's a few highlights.

Starry Pearl- a nice one to get in the garden
Oak Eggar- blown away by this beauty! Lifer.
Barred Red
Rosy Wave. Lifer.
Sulphur Pearl
Dark-bordered Pearl
Blair's Mocha
Small Rufous. Lifer.
Twin-spotted Wainscot. Lifer.
Saltern Ear- seems like these can be identified in the field if they are these paler Ear moth agg types. Lifer.
Light Fleabane Neb, Ptocheuusa paupella (Lifer)
Every tray looked like this- happy to know that I'm getting similar and even greater diversity and numbers as at the Old Vicarage. Seems like this is not a bad moth trapping garden
Nice to see a good few of these with up to three a night (in addition to six or seven Jersey Tigers a night
