Garden Big Day

One of the best days birding this autumn today, not at Portland or twitching but in the garden at the Old Vic. Highlights included a Hawfinch (the first one since the 2017 invasion) and good counts of over 350 Redwing, nearly 100 Fieldfare and 50 Siskin, Lesser Redpoll and 30 Chaffinch. Ebird list HERE

There was even a moth migrant too- a Dark Sword Grass. The only other moths in the trap were a single Light Brown Apple Moth and a Sprawler.

Spent this afternoon with the family, bought a new fish for the aquarium, set up a new bird feeding station in the garden, prepared two Pheasants that Bryan brought back from the shoot yesterday and did a bit of tidying up.
