Leopard Moth, Beddington Farmlands

Been at Beddington Farmlands this weekend to catch up with work so missed the usual weekend in Oxfordshire. Highlight was the farmland's first Leopard Moth.

Also a few other new for year moths and some impressive numbers of Swifts in the evening.

Leopard Moth (above and below). The feathered antennae indicate a male. The translucent outer wings were particularly noticeable.
 An absolute stunner.

 Peppered Moth
 Yellow-barred Brindle
 Short-cloaked Moth
This picture doesn't do it justice but on Friday evening the density of Swifts over the lakes was pretty amazing- at least 750.

Nice Leopard Moth Pete and great to hear that you saw so many Swifts! We have been worrying about their numbers localy as seems to be so few around.

They are all now on the east coast by the sounds of it
