I think your putative Lunar Underwing might be a Beaded Chestnut, the oval stigmata is very narrow and elongated and it lacks a row of black dots at the tip of the forewing, I could be wrong but I think it's worth sending your photo to Graham Collins, Surrey moth recorder, for verification. I had one a couple of years ago and Graham asked me for a photo ID but I didn't have my camera with me that day. Although the field guides have it down as a common moth it seems to be scarce in Surrey

Hi Nick,
Thanks and yes yesterday Ninja's brother also identified it as Beaded Chestnut. I had 2-3 of them on a couple of recent nights. That probably explains why I couldn't see a pale underwing on it too!
