Madeira Moths

I put the LED travel moth trap out in the Calhau Grande garden every night while in Madeira and had a few moths but only two or three species a night. However a nice little sample and a few lifers in there and a couple of examples of Atlantic island endemics.

Striped Hawkmoth
Banded Sable, Spoladea recurvalis
Chevron Snout, Hypena lividalis
Scarce Bordered Straw
The Wedgling- one I'm familiar with from the Azores
Double-striped Pug
Herpetogramma dorsipunctalis
Selania leplastriana
Bugloss Ermine, Ethmia bipunctella
Silver-spotted Veneer, Euchromius ocellea
Can't work this one out  210224 update looks like another Traveller- see comments and also here. An American species.
Pale Mottled Willow
White Speck
Scopula irroata- a Canary Island and Madeira endemic
The Traveller Costaconvexa centrostrigaria
Ascotis fortuna is the closest I can get to this. An Atlantic island endemic.
Nice spot

Hi Stewart, the similar one on Madeira is the Traveller which does fit- here's a match by the looks of it for this specimen https://www.ukmoths.org.uk/species/costaconvexa-centrostrigaria/

More variable than I thought as I identified one of these correctly too.
