Oxfordshire weekend

I did do my best to find some White-fronted Geese this weekend during the influx SEE HERE but despite three attempts at Port Meadow on Sunday HERE, the Airfield yesterday and Otmoor today HERE the best I could muster up was a Wigeon on the noc mig over the garden last night.

A few Dunlin at Port Meadow and Otmoor, also a Ruff at Otmoor. Now at least 3000 Golden Plover at Otmoor with none at all at the Airfield (didn't even have a Skylark at the Airfield, it was very quiet apart from 2 Stonechat). A couple of Marsh Harrier at Otmoor too. Today Otmoor had 7 Whooper Swans, Hen Harrier and Great White Egret which I skilfully managed to miss and there were White-fronts in the county at Farmoor yesterday morning.

Great to see the Starlings coming into roost at Otmoor- must have been at least 50,000.

I haven't bothered with the moth trap as very cold nights but did have a couple of Winter moths by the outside light yesterday.

Wigeon over the garden
Starlings at Otmoor- no murmuration just piling into the reeds
