Reading about your adventures on Corvo has been a pleasure. It seems a little strange to work so hard to see North American birds in Europe. That reminds me of the years I lived in Arizona where birders came from far and wide to see Mexican strays north of the border. I always just went south of the border to see a plethora of Mexican species. Why not just go to North America, and get many more species for the money?
Hi John, I have been to America five times and planning on going back again next spring. I love your birds.
Vagrant hunting and rarity is about context and in my opinion there is no better way to see American birds than discovering them as a result of endless time of searching, in a setting where they are unsual or out of context- it is the most intimate and exhilirating connection.
It is nice to work so hard for something which is so beautiful. Nothing beats that.
