The Old Vic Update

Biggest news here this week is that we are now letting out the Coach House for holiday lets so if you need to stay near Oxford and fancy doing a bit of mothing etc (bring your own moth trap too) then you can book a stay HERE. Otmoor RSPB is 15 minutes drive away, Waterperry Gardens is at the end of the road, Bicester shopping village only 20 mins away, Oxford city centre is about 20 minutes and the Chilterns and Cotswolds are accessible too within an hour's drive.

The moth year is now 225 with a few highlights below.

The Spotted Flycatchers are building a nest by the porch at the moment
A good start to the day getting the first Scarlet Tiger of the year (4 of them)
Red-belted Clearwing- I put the myo lure out and there were 16 of them within an hour or so
Brown China Mark
Toadflax Pug
Broken-barred Carpet
Brown Oak Tortrix (I think)
Red-belted Clearwings
There's a small group of Demoiselles in the garden, all females (white pterostigmas). The one below with the very brown wings is presumably a Beautiful Demoiselle and not so sure of the one above- could be female Banded?

I tried the moth traps in a different part of the garden last night away from the Coach house guests. Not sure it made much difference.
Variable Longhorn Beetle preparing for take off
