Beddington Farmlands Project Review 2021

We went with the flow this year and with the Covid /Global Re-set and radically re-positioned ourselves on this project, a  project we literally threw everything we had at between 2010 and 2019. Summary of what we got up to HERE. We basically got things as far as we could and managed to assist in setting up a top tier delivery council body with the help of an incredible collaboration of various radical and activist groups (tactics now which would be much less tolerated/permitted since the 'curtain' has fallen). We also established a citizen science community , local community support base and a series of recording and reporting structures and intend to keep that up remotely. I’m still there one or two days a week around work . Project website with more details HERE

Here's a few photos and personal highlights from 2021.

An honour to work on this important investigative journalism piece with Source Material and the Telegraph which featured some of the issues at Beddington farmlands. HERE

The latest report was published in record time HERE
This first cycle Caspian Gull stayed more or less throughout the year
The Knepp White Stork that over wintered was tracked to Wales in the Spring
Little gull from the obs window in a cold spell
This singing Siberian Chiff found by Zach was really interesting
Found this stunning Iceland Gull in late winter
Caught this Mullein moth in Spring, a first for the farmlands
The last good bird I had from the obs was the White-tailed Eagle found by Zach and Ian
We moved out of the obs in the summer and rented it out
Goodbye to the obs window . Will certainly miss this HERE
Wood Sands were an autumn highlight and great to see the place still attracting sights like below with wader filled beds

The year ended with more Caspian Gulls , this bird ringed in the Czech Republic
