Decided to take the plunge and get a thermal monoculture, mainly for mammal watching while in Oz, so I've gone for the Chinese Hikmicro Lynx 2.0. According to reviews on Mammal Watching website it's great quality for a comparative low price (about £900) and the only catch is that it's a Chinese government subsidised company (hence the low price for such high quality) and according to Mammal Watching reviews, the app collects all your data from your phone. I'm not too bothered about the Chinese government getting all my phone data- they might even like my metric focused approach and prolific data collecting- who knows what plans they have for taking over the world. It is strange though nowadays- if you have a curious surf of the web and maybe search for something like 'extra large African hotties' (or whatever takes your fancy) it used to be God and you that used to know about that. Nowadays it's God, the Chinese government, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg who know everything your up to. Nothing to hide, nothing to worry about I suppose.
