Otmoor etc

A quick visit to Otmoor yesterday was pleasant with two Bitterns flying between feeding and presumably feeding young sites, a Garganey (looked like the female but without the young), a Black-tailed Godwit and 4 Little Ringed Plover. Ebird list HERE

A few more new year moths in the Old Vic moth trap.

Garganey- looks like a female, there appeared to be grey on some of the coverts in this pose and some strange dark bars on the neck which suggested maybe an eclipse male but the covert patch was not grey-blue (visible when the bird flapped) it was brown as expected with a female but unusual in that the young were nowhere to be seen- hope they are okay
