A few waders

Ringed Plover and Dunlin
North-east wind, overcast and rain, this time of year means shorebirds. Devilbirder, Kojak and I managed to put a few hours in but nobody was around in the morning. We managed 2 Ringed Plover, 3 Dunlin, a juvenile Little Ringed Plover, 1 Common Sandpiper, 6 Green Sandpiper and a few Lapwing so not too bad. Elsewhere across the London region there were Grey Plover, Black Tern, Little Terns, Little Stints and Avocet so we were hoping for something a bit better.
Other migrants included 2 Shoveler, 3 Teal, 8 Swift, 10+ Swallow, 1 Sedge Warbler, 1 Reed Warbler, 1 Willow Warbler and 5+ Chiffchaff. Also 2 Kingfisher, 2 Peregrine, 3 Kestrel, 2 Sparrowhawk and a couple of Skylark up on the mound.

Also Darragh showed us a fruit worm in the blackberries that we've been eating recently. Looks like its the larvae of the Raspberry Beetle- so a new pan species tick for me. Not sure I'll enjoy Blackberries in quite the same way again.
