Goldeneye

Adult female Goldeneye - the first record of this species at Beddington since 2006
Shoveler and Goldeneye
Adult female Goldeneye- aged by yellow eye, pink band on bill and by triple white wing panel (which also rules out female Barrow's Goldeneye)
Water Pipit in flight over 100 acre
Pan-species tick for the day- Cellar Cup Fungus (?) on the composting facility stock piles

Prof found a Goldeneye yesterday on the lake but the news got out late. Fortunately it was still there today and a few new members had a Beddington lifer- the first at the farm since 2006.
Really nice winter weather today and a few new birds about. In addition to the Goldeneye there was a female Shelduck (the first in several months), 1-2 Stonechat, 7 Green Sandpiper, 2 Snipe (Jack Snipe yesterday), 70+ Shoveler, 30+ Gadwall, 70+ Linnet, 30+ Chaffinch, 10 Reed Bunting (increase), 5 Skylark, 50+ Song Thrush (increase), 60+ Pied Wagtail and 1 Redpoll.
