Back to Corvo

Wood Warbler- two individuals are currently on Corvo, the first records of this species for the Azores. This individual was near the Power Station and another is also in Ribeira da Ponte. Also had a Siskin fly over while waiting for the Wood Warbler - two new Azores ticks for me. There has been a strong European migrant theme this year to the Azores autumn, with an extended period of easterly airflow and the forecast predicting that to continue.
Juvenile Black-tailed Godwit- on the airfield
Northern Wheatear- presumed Greenland. There has been a large influx of Wheatears this year with 100+ estimated on Corvo in the last few days. Many appear large and long-winged and considering the location are most likely Greenland Wheatears that have been interrupted crossing the Atlantic.
Quite a few of these in the grass
