I was looking for some old bird pics a couple of days ago and came across these old family pics of me as a kid. I've returned (after many years away) to where I was brought up but unlike then I have a pretty good idea now why things are so messed up and in decline (including the local wildlife). Personally I think the solution locally is an alternative to a focus on moving onwards and upwards the social and property ladder- and out of this shit-hole. The solution, I reckon is to focus on digging in, making the best out of what we've got and defending ourselves against the organisations that are trying to abuse power in the area (who are engineering decline). In other words to grow wealth (including more wildlife) from the ground up through genuine regeneration and renewal (For example), led by the people, not just the organisations which are saying they are doing that (but are actually often the instruments of decline). Here's a little song about all that, that popped into my head last night which I recorded on my bird recording equipment.

Nothing wrong with being a bit more 'radical' Pete - it means change from the bottom upwards.....
Laurie -
That would be good although not sure anything radical is going to happen round here- unfortunately :-)
